Sexual Reproductive Health
Access to appropriate, quality, and affordable RH commodities is critical to meeting the reproductive health needs of women and girls and preventing mortality and morbidity. Efforts have been made to enhance access to reproductive health commodities, but significant challenges persist. The country faces a considerable mismatch between the contraceptive products available and user preferences, leading to an unmet need for family planning services. This unmet need is further exacerbated by stagnating levels of donor and domestic financing, which fail to keep pace with the rising and evolving demand for diverse contraceptive methods.
Availability and access to essential health products and technologies for maternal and newborn health tools, such as non-pneumatic anti-shock garments, heat stable Carbetocin, uterine balloon tamponade, and calibrated blood collection drapes, remain non-standardized within the public health supply chain.
The goal of the SRH program is to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity by ensuring access to appropriate, quality, and affordable RH commodities to meet the reproductive health needs of women and girls.
The program will approach this by
• Expanding choice of contraceptives by introduction of new methods into the method mix such hormonal IUD. • Ensuring sustainable funding for family planning commodity procurement
• Introducing into the public sector essential maternal and newborn health products and technologies such as non-pneumatic anti-shock garment, heat stable Carbetocin, calibrated blood collection drapes among others.
